If you draw from a private well, nobody tests your water for you. Ontario provides free bacterial testing through Public Health Ontario; chemical testing for nitrate and metals is separate and paid. Test before buying any equipment — sediment, iron and sulphur each need different treatment, and no filter makes bacterially unsafe water safe.
